 2014!

This blog is going to be about Peace. Yep, you heard me... Hippie or Not... we all want it!

Peace Baby!

I am not going to talk about Global Peace. Nope. I want to talk about Inner Peace.

I struggle with inner peace. I want it. I really do. I invite it in.. I even offer it a comfy chair. But, I must be a really bad hostess. Peace never decides to stay. I mean, we hang out for about 10 minutes and for some reason Peace thinks that is long enough!

What about you? Does Peace hang out at your place?

I think, Peace must feel uncomfortable with the other characters that hang out with me. You know, the ones... Self Doubt, Worry and Guilt. Now, those 3 will hang out all day long!

(I just had to add the above items from Etsy! Click on the photos and the link will take you right to the shops! I personal love these items! They make me laugh!)

I am not much of a New Year Resolution Gal. But, I think this year I am going to provide a better environment for Peace to hang her hat. Now, my old 3 friends will still have their own chairs to sit in for their visits. But, I am thinking about changing the cushions and making it more difficult for them to get so comfy.

There ya go! That's it! I have the stage set!

Let's find out more about Karen and her wonderful shops! Remember if you click on the photos of Karen's art, it will take you right to her shop! OK..Get settled in! Here we go!

What do you sell?

Hand thrown cool functional and decorative pottery and original folk art paintings.

https://www.etsy.com/listing/162586102/black-cat-painting-folk-artoriginal?ref=shop_home_active

How did you get started with Etsy?

I heard about it when it was very young and put my prints of my paintings up on it.

When did you get interested in making your Art/Craft?

I was born with a paint brush in my hands. I have been a painter for over 20 years and took up pottery 2 years ago. Now I am a clay junkie as well...

Where does your inspiration come from?

Seasons, nature, places I visit, people, other artists.

Who taught you or how did you learn your art form?

I am a primarily self taught painter. I am in 2 books about outsider and folk artists and have exhibited my work at some big shows like the Outsider Art Fair in NYC and the Atlanta Folk Festival.

Where do you see your Shop in 5 years from now?

Booming! I see my clay pieces in high demand as I marry more and more of my painting skills in my work and prices for my paintings rising due to demand. I see myself with at least 2 interns to do the niddly things for me so I can create :0)

How do you manage your time between Etsy and the rest of your life?

As an artist, structure is an allusive thing. I can manage other people and events down to the last iota, but for myself it's hard sometimes to keep myself on track. I have had to commit myself to treating my studio time like any other job where I would have to go out the door to do it in the morning. Which means to be showered, dressed, have breakfast and get out to the studio for 8 hours without stopping to put laundry in, or pay bills, or sweep the kitchen floor.

How did you come up with the name of your shops?

IN a dream, during a very low part in my life, I was told to go to the "house of the falling star" (which was me) my life is so much better now, I see myself as the "rising star"

Do you make or stock items you love, or what will sell?

https://www.etsy.com/listing/162585202/daisy-love-painting-original-acrylic?ref=shop_home_feat

I can't make anything divorced from myself that I don't love. How can I expect others to love it if I don't?

Where else can we find you online?

Did you always want to have your own business?

I just always wanted to make art.

Any other thoughts you want to share with us?

Whenever folks need something, a gift, a thingy for their kitchen, a new outfit, they should always look to handmade and small business first. Keeping your neighbors employed means keeping more money and resources all around you instead of going to some big corporation or foreign country. Thanks and God Bless you all :0)

Thank you Karen for Sharing your Talents!!!

To my readers... Thank you for stopping in and looking at Karen's outstanding shops!

Click on each photo and it will take you to Joanne's Shop!!!

What do you sell?

I sell hand carved crochet hooks, handspun yarn, baby hats, and felt fibre jewelry

How did you get started with Etsy?

I had a lot of scarves that I had made when I started spinning. I didn't want to stop creating, so I had to think of some way to minimize my growing pile of handspun accessories.

https://www.etsy.com/listing/159078033/handspun-merino-yarn-teal-handspun-yarn?ref=shop_home_active

When did you get interested in making your Art/Craft?

I have always loves crafts and fibre art. I began spinning my own yarn a few years ago. I just couldn't seem to find the colours that were dancing around in my head on the shelves of the yarn stores.

I LOVE the look of nature and natural products. I feel good about using reclaimed wood for my carved hooks. I just hated burning or throwing away all those lovely prunings from the trees in our yard. I'm so glad I found such a beautiful craft to make out of all those branches.

https://www.etsy.com/listing/164369789/9mm-hand-carved-crochet-hook-size-m?ref=shop_home_active

Where does your inspiration come from?

My inspiration almost always comes from nature. I love to pull out the natural beauty of the earth.

Who taught you or how did you learn your art form?

My grandmother taught me how to crochet when I was about 9 years old. However, I am a self taught carver. My first crochet hook was a big experiment, but was I ever glad that it came out so well because I have never looked back.

Where do you see your Shop in 5 years from now?

I plan on continuing to expand my line of handspun baby hats and crochet hooks. My felt bead necklaces have done well right from the start, so I'm sure I will find new and creative ideas for my felt jewelry. Right now I am working on some really nice rustic style wooden tree branch buttons. I expect those to be a great seller.

https://www.etsy.com/listing/164370047/handspun-baby-hat-purple-plum-baby-hat-6?ref=shop_home_active

How do you manage your time between Etsy and the rest of your life?

Well..... I just kind of let the house fall apart around me - lol. It is really hard. I could create ALL day long. However, I have a husband and 2 boys who need my attention. I also work at a primary school part time. So, I need to find balance. I really just let my creativity flow where it will. One day I work on hooks, the next it is felt jewelry....

How did you come up with the name of your shop?

Heaven Spun.... The name of my shop came from my handspun yarn. I really felt like the colours that came out were given to me as gifts from heaven. - corny.. but true.

Do you make or stock items you love, or what will sell?

I want to just stock items that I love. If it isn't fun making it, I don't see the point in putting my time into it. Life is just too short not to love what we do.

Where else can we find you online?

I have never been very good at blogging, but I have a facebook page were I post specials and will do a few giveaways in the new year.
                        www.pinterest.com/SpunCreations
                        www.heavenspun.webs.com

Did you always want to have your own business?

Yes, this is a long time dream of mine.

Any other thoughts you want to share with us?

I am excited an amazed at how fruitful my journey has become. I'm so glad I didn't give up in the beginning when things were painfully slow. Recently my line of hooks have been put into local yarn shops. I see a lot of grow potential in this area. Exciting things are ahead for Heaven Spun Creations.

Featured Shop Hawaii Titanium Rings

You haven't heard from me in awhile. However, I have the cutest little excuse! It is about 7 pounds...I now have a Grandson! I have been a bit busy! But, I am back!

I have a stunning shop for you today. If you are a ring person, this shop will blow your socks off!

Featured Shop
Hawaii Titanium Rings

Shop Owner
Jerry Guire

Get your coffee... here we go!

What do you sell?

Custom Titanium Rings

How did you get started with Etsy?

We were selling on Ebay and a client referred us to Etsy.

When did you get interested in making your Art/Craft?

In 1997, I was working in a machine shop and made a titanium ring out of a key chain. My friends saw it and started ordering them. I asked my boss if I could stay late and use the machine and eventually made enough money to buy a machine of my own.

Where does your inspiration come from?

Nature and the Hawaiian Island scenery

Who taught you or how did you learn your art form?

I was self taught and have pioneered the embedded titanium ring industry.

Where do you see your Shop in 5 years from now?

I plan on continuing to expand and pioneer new avenues in the titanium ring industry. I am on the verge of launching a new business that may be revolutionary.

How do you manage your time between Etsy and the rest of your life?

I have an amazing wife and a team of family and friends that work with me; they help juggle my schedule and make executing my ambitions possible.

How did you come up with the name of your shop?

We are located on the Big Island of Hawaii and inspired by its culture and scenery.

Do you make or stock items you love, or what will sell?

We have two Hawaii Titanium Rings galleries here on the Big Island and several galleries that carry our rings on the mainland. We specialize in custom rings made to order so our stock is mainly for examples.

Where else can we find you online?

We have a website with all of our new styles at: www.hawaiititaniumrings.com

Did you always want to have your own business?

Yes!

Any other thoughts you want to share with us?

Thank you to you and to all of our supporters, we are so thankful for people who buy handmade items from family businesses! The corporate competition has taken our creations and mass-produced them by out-sourcing which has hurt our growth. We have survived because we keep improving every day with new techniques and designs that set our quality high above the imitations.

Mahalo nui loa from our Ohana to yours!

About

(taken from Hawaii Titanium Rings About Page on Etsy)

Hawaiian Titanium Rings has been pioneering the titanium ring industry since the beginning in the mid 1990's. A small family ran company specializing in high craftsmanship and great customer service. As titanium bands grew in popularity so did the competition. Many of our styles were immediately duplicated. As we continued to cater to our customers we thought of ways to change the look of the now common titanium ring. Living in Hawaii the idea of inlaying local exotic hardwoods came about, and after many years of research the new look was created. Maintaining the durability of the titanium ring while inlaying the hard to find rare exotic hard woods from around the world. once we figured out the techniques needed to protect the wood, the new designs were endless. Now taking the most durable wedding band available and adding the natural art of Mother Nature we brought to you the Exotic Hardwood Series and our Tribal Series. The new look was a Big Hit! As people raved about Mother Nature's beauty in the different grain patterns and coloration of our hardwoods, we continued to look for more natural art our earth had to offer. We have now found ways to bring you to the many variety of precious stone and minerals. Taking the deep blues of Lapis and adding the bright green of Malachite we began to see that mixing our imagination with Mother Nature's beauty would soon change the way people look at the Titanium Ring. And now 15 years later Hawaiian Titanium Rings continues to hand make each band custom to your order while giving you hundreds of styles to choose from, with thousands of possibilities. You can now find our rings at exclusive fine art galleries and high end jewelry stores around the world.

You can find Jerry and his brothers on the beautiful Kona coast in Kailua-Kona Hawaii

Todays Artist: Miloš Samardžić

Happy Hello All!

Today I am featuring:

Miloš Samardžić

Etsy Shop:
Tramps & Glams

(Click on all photos and it will take you right to Tramps & Glams)

I love this Shop!!! It is fun, unique and just my style! I just had to know more about Tramps & Glams! If you love whimsical, happy, and different this shop is just what the doctor ordered! Great gift giving possibilities for your friends and loved ones. Tis the Season for giving!

Get settled in my friends! Get your coffee or tea! Here we go!

What do you sell?

I sell unusual, bold, and surreal polymer clay jewelry and wall art.

How did you get started with Etsy?

I have been selling jewelry on Facebook since 2008. I found Etsy and opened my shop there two years ago, while searching for a place where I could reach international customers.

When did you get interested in making your Art/Craft?

I have always been interested in various forms of art. I’ve been drawing as long as I can remember. But it wasn't until I discovered polymer clay back in 2008 that I realized that I wanted art to be more than a hobby to me.

Where does your inspiration come from?

I'm always inspired by books, old movies, music...in short, other people's art. I have always thought that it is fascinating how one art object can inspire the creation of another one, quite different than the one that served as inspiration. Other things that motivate me are nature and simplicity of life. That's where my less complex and geometric pieces come from.

Who taught you or how did you learn your art form?

I'm almost entirely self taught. I used some online tutorials when I began to work with polymer clay, but all methods I use now are those that I’ve developed myself.

Where do you see your Shop in 5 years from now?

I hope to be able to find more time for creating wall art and possibly some other forms, maybe art dolls or figurines. Also, there’s always room for improvement, so I hope to raise my jewelry designs to a higher level.

How do you manage your time between Etsy and the rest of your life?

It’s a challenge, but when you manage to do it right, it’s very rewarding. Etsy shop requires constant work, and not only creative work, but also things like marketing and promotion. Luckily, my wife helps me with these, so I can focus on the creative side.

How did you come up with the name of your shop?

My shop name reflects my interests. If you take a peek into my shop, you’ll see that, among other things, I make polymer clay portraits. I’m equally fascinated by tramps, social outlaws, and offbeat people like Edgar Allan Poe, Johnny Cash and William Burroughs, and those who come from another world, more glamorous one, like Marlene Dietrich or Louise Brooks. I love the idea of merging these two worlds together.

Do you make or stock items you love, or what will sell?

I try not to think about what would sell while I’m making art. I suppose that would be dishonest with both myself and my customers. So, I only make things that I would wear myself or that I would give to people I care about.

Where else can we find you online?

Did you always want to have your own business?

Of course. I hope that one day this would be my day job.

Any other thoughts you want to share with us?

Thank you for featuring my art on your blog. It’s always a pleasure to meet bloggers and readers interested in art and crafts. I would also like to encourage those who are considering to take a similar route and open their own Etsy shops. It can be hard at times, but it is definitely worthy.

Fabulous Shop!!!
I love everything this shop has to offer!
I hope you do too!
Go check out this shop!
