White Window Creations, LLC

Happy Hello All!

It is time to get back into action with a great shop! Today, we are checking out White Window Creations, LLC! The owner of this wonderful Etsy shop is Jessica Herold! If you have a little bundle of fun in your life... this is the shop for you!

https://www.etsy.com/shop/WhiteWindowCreations
(click on all photos and it will take you were you want to go!)

What do you sell?

Baby goods and items to make life easier or just more fun for busy moms (and dads!).

Newsboy Hats for Children
(OMG! Is this not the cutest thing you have ever seen!!!!)

How did you get started with Etsy?

Slowly. ha. My adventure on Etsy has been very "learn as you go" because I am sort of a dive in and learn to swim later type of person. Not always a good thing, but in this case it has been awesome. I have learned so much and can't wait to see what I learn next.

When did you get interested in making your Art/Craft?

My shop started with the Cuddle and Kick Blanket. My son would be sleeping in his swing, kick off his blanket and wake up..over and over and over and you get the point. So I literally sewed a patch of satin to the back of his blanket and he stopped kicking it off - SCORE!! My friends loved it and wanted them for their own kids, and I fell in love with sewing and creating new things the way I wanted them.

Where does your inspiration come from?

Most of the time I see something I like but I want it just a little different or in my own color choices. I am also a self-proclaimed cheap person so I want a good deal and if I can't get one - I'll just do it myself. lol

Who taught you or how did you learn your art form?

I just sit at my (free hand-me-down) machine and make things, messing up along the way. Happy accidents. I confess that I do not know what many of the machine settings are or what their intended purpose is, but I seem to figure things out pretty quickly. You can make a LOT of cool things with a straight line. LOL When things get hairy I call my mother. She used to make clothes for herself and her sisters. She is an amazing talent and a huge inspiration for my creativity.

Where do you see your Shop in 5 years from now?

I hope to still be going and expanding. At present, I am a stay at home mom first, a Sign Language Interpreter second, and a business-owner third. Many would say that business must come first to succeed but I disagree. There are many levels of success and nothing, I mean NOTHING, comes before my family. That said, when they are both in school all day, I do hope to be expanding my business and potentially selling in boutiques and more craft fairs. Stay tuned! :-)

How do you manage your time between Etsy and the rest of your life?

Patience. Some days I sew 10 things. Some weeks I sew nothing. Sometimes I sew 15 minutes at a time. I won't put my kids on hold to make a bag. That's just my rule.

How did you come up with the name of your shop?

Oh, it is sort of a long explanation. I am a daydreamer. I can sit and stare out a window for hours. I love what a window represents - protection, division between where I am and where I could go, vision, etc. White is a symbol of purity and what is more pure than a baby? And I create, so from all of that you get White Window Creations. Deep. ;-)

Do you make or stock items you love, or what will sell?

Items I love for sure. I usually make something for myself and then offer it up as an example of what I can make for someone else - in their chosen design or color.

Where else can we find you online?

Did you always want to have your own business?

I have always wanted to work for myself, not necessarily for monetary gain. I love volunteering. This is just where I am right now.

Any other thoughts you want to share with us?

Do something that makes you smile every day. Do something that makes someone else smile every day. You'll be amazed at how the two feed off of each other.

All about Mom!

Good morning!

Today is going to be all about Mom! You have one and you just might be one. Moms are everywhere.... You can't go anywhere without bumping into one. Today, is my daughter birthday. She is 29! Holy Smokes... it sure went by fast! Anyway, it got me thinking....

The Mom on a good day:
She smiles at you. She asks nicely that you put away your stuff. She might even start the sentence off with the word "honey'. She goes and puts your undies in the laundry and finds matches to all your socks and sticks them in your dresser. She comes back to notice that her "honey" hasn't moved off the couch yet. So, she asks again. This time she might smile and say " Hey, sweetheart don't forget to clean up your stuff". She goes and makes "sweetheart" lunch and sets it on the table. Now, "sweetheart" is called for lunch and "sweetheart" doesn't move an inch. So, "sweetheart" hasn't put away the stuff and is taking forever to come to the table. Now, MOM is starting to twitch and steam is coming out her ears and she still has the battle of getting sweet pie to do homework later!

Let us take a minute here and think. Hmmm.... if you are the kid. You have put your mom through Hell (pick any day kids and think about... you know I am right) and she deserves a gift on Mother's Day. If you are the Mom, you deserve a gift on Mother's Day for not killing your child on any given day over the years! Moms.. you know I am right on this one.. stop day dreaming about what you thought motherhood was going to be like and get real!

Well, guess what! I have some Outstanding Stuff you can get for Mom! And, Mom if you think you need to buy yourself a little something (cuz, dad forgot to tell self absorbed "sweetheart" to get you something) I have the perfect something just for you! (slip it into dad's hand and tell him to give it to the kid to give to you... oh, you might want to wrap it yourself for a good presentation!)

Where can you find said Outstanding Stuff... let me tell ya! Head over to my shops on Etsy!

Featuring Olivia!!!

Happy hello all!!
Today, I am featuring a very talented teenager! Yup, you heard me, a teenager! She is 15 years old and sews like the wind! I am super excited to share her Etsy Shop with you!
Get ready to meet
Olivia Hook
Her Etsy Shop:
MendingLifeTogether

Get settled people! Here we go!!

What do you sell?

Baby and Toddler items, along with purses/diaper bags for mom

How did you get started with Etsy?

When I was thirteen and making items here and there for family and friends, I wanted more people to find my things. That's when my dad found Etsy.

When did you get interested in making your Art/Craft?

When I started sewing lessons when I was about 12 or 13. I started making things for myself and then I started making things for my cousins.

Where does your inspiration come from?

My inspiration comes from bright, colorful and playful items. Also what's new and trending for kids. My inspiration also comes from the little girl/child inside of me.

Who taught you or how did you learn your art form?

My sewing teacher at a local fabric store, my mom also helps me when there's patterns that are hard to understand.

Where do you see your Shop in 5 years from now?

I hope to see my store growing and improving and meeting new people/customers along the way. I hope that my store could be a part-time job, considering in 5 years I most likely will be in College. I would love for my store in 5 years to be online and have it's very own store, but for it to be big online is my main goal.

How do you manage your time between Etsy and the rest of your life?

I feel like my life revolves around Etsy. I will spend time during school planning items to make, things to do, and how I'm planning on promoting items.

Is this a hobby, part-time job, or full-time job?

My store first started off as a hobby now it's becoming more of a job and I hope for it to become part-time job in the near future.

Do you make or stock items you love, or what will sell?

I stock items that I love and that will sell. My two biggest selling items are Critter Blankets and Crayon Rolls.

Where else can we find you online?

Did you always want to have your own business?

Being so young I never really thought about owning my own business but now it takes a big part in my life.

Any other thoughts you want to share with us?

I would love to share a coupon code for all of you, since you guys took the time to read about me. Use MLTB20 for 20% off your purchase.

Mya's Heart

Happy Hello!
I am doing something different today. I was approached by an Etsy Teammate, Deb Lonergan , for help. She asked if I would do a blog post to help her niece and other children like her niece. Please take time to read this post.

This post will touch your soul.
It is the story of a little girl.
This is Mya's Story.
(Told by Deb Longergan)

This is the story of Mya’s  heart.
Mya is the little girl on the billboard

When sweet Mya was 15 months old, it was discovered that she had a bad heart, and would probably need a transplant in a few years.  Fast forward about a year: it became clear that Mya would need a transplant much sooner than anticipated.  In fact, as soon as one became available.
Mya spent the next 6 months at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta .  She celebrated her third birthday there.  Mya became the darling of the entire hospital staff because of her outgoing nature, intelligence and boundless energy….she would ride her tricycle up and down the halls (with her adult caregivers trotting behind, trying to keep up, and carrying her IV bags!)
Mya on her trike and showing off her IV lines

She would tell people that her heart was broken and she was waiting for a new one to come in the mail.

A few months ago, the mail finally delivered a heart for Mya.  The surgery took hours and hours, but Mya came through like a trooper!
Mya in recovery

I’m happy to report that Mya is doing fabulously well.  There has been no rejection at all.  She is growing fast (making up for lost time) and still has that boundless energy. She just learned how to do the “starfish” in the pool……and can swim all the way to the other side!
But the story does not end there.  About 1 in 4 heart transplant recipients will need a new transplant within about 5 years.  This is an agonizing reality for anyone who has received a heart, and for their family and friends.  And the survival rate for repeat recipients is less than 60%

Can you imagine being a parent and knowing you might have to go through the trauma again?  Possibly lose your child after all?  Or being a recipient, and unsure what the future will bring?

Mya’s parents have started a foundation, the Enduring Hearts Foundation, to fund research to find out why so many heart transplants fail after a few years, and to find a solution.  The Enduring Hearts Foundation is a non-profit organization that awards operating grants for research projects in organ transplantation to established members of academic staff at universities, transplant centers and research institutions.

Help us spread the word about this foundation by sharing this blog and asking others to do the same.  Contributions are necessary and welcome.

Another way you can help!

Deb Lonergan has a new jewelry collection in her Etsy shop. The Collection is "Enduring Hearts Collection".

"Profits from the sale of these items will be donated to the Enduring Hearts Foundation. I have featured Swarovski crystal hearts in this collection because to me they appear fragile and easily broken, but have a true strength and beauty to them.  I thought it appropriate that the jewelry should feature these crystal hearts, as they exemplify the hearts of these transplant patients."

Introducing the "Enduring Hearts Collection". Proceeds (less only the cost of materials) from the sales of items in this collection will be donated to the Enduring Hearts Foundation, a non-profit organization that awards operating grants for research projects in organ transplantation to established members of academic staff at universities, transplant centers and research institutes.

My thoughts,

Giving the gift of Love is magical.

                             Each life is a gift...
                                                  A hope...
                                                       A light...
                                              Endless possibilities...

Be an organ donor

I know this is hard, but, remember.. in your darkest moments (loss of your child) you can provide light

Thank you all for taking the time to read this very important post!! Let's get the word out folks!!!

What to Expect : Moms of Toddlers

OK
You would think I would have a better BUTT!
All I do is pick up after the kid!

https://www.etsy.com/listing/150141635/funny-sarcastic-birthday-card-keep-calm?ref=sr_gallery_5&ga_search_query=funny+mom+fat&ga_order=most_relevant&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=US&ga_search_type=all&ga_facet=funny+mom+fat

Well hmmm.... now you are the mom of a toddler! You may or may not still feel like "Betsy the cow... milk for all... open 24/7" And you might be pretty impressed that you still have nipples and that they didn't just fall off and roll under the sofa!

So, you are now trying to get your SEXY on. This can be a challenge! But, I found a hot little number for you.

Wow! All dressed up and ready to walk out the door! Well, Hell! The kid just tossed his cookies on my outfit! (Now, remember gals... do not touch, pick up or let the kid touch you when you are all dressed up.. you will get puked on.. I think it is a law or something! Have DAD do everything after you are prettied! Dad... he is the guy you live with... the one with the stupid look on his face)

What your outfit will be for the next, well, a lot of  years....

Now, I am not saying that you will be grumpy all the time. I'm just saying.... "most" of the time. Here is the thing... You will not be grumpy because of your kid (at this point, anyway). No, that's not why you are now starting to show frown lines. It is cuz, you didn't think you would have to train the Dad to help you or rather train him to help himself!! In your mind... you are wondering how he makes it day by day and doesn't get hit by a bus! You now understand, why your friends with kids turned into a crab asses!

https://www.etsy.com/listing/76436775/caribbean-crab-embroidered-flour-sack?ref=sr_gallery_32&ga_search_query=crab+decor&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=US&ga_ref=auto8&ga_search_type=all&ga_facet=crab+décor

Don't panic... train the DADDY!

https://www.etsy.com/listing/103085217/daddy-in-training-mens-t-shirt-funny?ref=sr_gallery_5&ga_search_query=training+dad&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=US&ga_search_type=all&ga_facet=training+dad

You have trained the Dad! You are sooooo proud of yourself! You think, "This is heaven"

Well, sweetheart... a little FYI is needed here. Try not to kill him when you realize that he is doing such a good job with the kid and house... and it hits you that he might be Doing It Better!!

Take a deep breath!!!!

https://www.etsy.com/listing/128669348/take-a-deep-breathquote-red-scrabble?ref=sr_gallery_2&ga_search_query=deep+breath&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=US&ga_search_type=all&ga_facet=deep+breath

Do not freak out... this is key... listen close...
If, you freak out (because you think you are not needed anymore) he will stop doing all the crap you trained him to do! If you freak out... it will all fall in your lap again!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Suck it up ladies!!! This feeling of "He is a better Parent" will not last long!!

Just know.. that all through this your child is

Cuz...your kid is messing with your world!

Why you ask...

It's Cuties job for the rest of her/his life.
They like seeing Mom's head spin!

I hope you all laughed a bit! Being a mom is hard work.. you have to laugh and have fun with it! Thank you all for reading! Come on over and visit my shop. You might find something you just can't live without!

Take care,
Kate
